Italy: Benevento signs Armenteros

One of the most prolific goalscorers in the Eredivisie last season, Samuel Armenteros has joined Benevento Calcio (Serie A) on a three-year deal from Dutch side Heracles Almelo after a successful season in the Netherlands. The Swedish striker, currently on international duty with Sweden and preparing for the Bulgaria and Belarus fixtures, has scored 19 goals in 29 appearances last season – ranking him third amongst the highest scorers in the league.

Nico-Jan Hoogma said about his player that ‘this transfer was Samuel’s reward following a fantastic season’, before declaring the club was ‘proud to be able to export one of their players to a big-5 league’. This will be Armenteros’ first spell in one of the big five European leagues; though at the age of 27, he seems to have reached top form when looking at the season he recently concluded.
