Championship: Jota joins Birmingham City

Brentford star Jota has joined Birmingham City on a record-breaking deal of over £6m, beating out Nikola Zigic’s 2010 transfer. The Spaniard was a key player in Brentford’s miracle second-half of the season, leading the team with 12 goals and 5 assists in only 21 features in Championship.

Phil Giles (Brentford, director of football) discussed the reasoning behind his decision, stating that with Jota’s contract being expiring in twelve months and the player “exceeding Brentford’s level of play”, it was the best decision to do if they wanted to get any money out of the player.
