Despite being expected to leave the club this summer, Area Turan’s chances of getting playing time this season have increased following the sale of Neymar to PSG, though they went back to ‘normal’ as Ousmane Dembélé joined the club on a record-breaking transfer a couple of weeks ago. Following this deal, the Turkish international was rumored to be questioning his future at the club, though rumours have now quieted down with his most recent declaration.

After an agreement between Barcelona and Galatasaray for a two-year loan deal for the former number 7 of the Blaugranas, Turan has indeed rejected a move away from Spain, despite a promise of playing time in the Turkish first division. The fact that Galatasaray will not be playing in any European competitions is reported to have weighed in quite a lot in the international’s decision. Turan only appeared in 18 league games last year (less than half of the team’s league fixtures), making him one of the lesser used wingers of the club; he, in fact, scored a fairly low three goals for the team in his league appearances, though he secured 4 Champions League goals in only 5 games for the club.

Amongst rumours that also sent Turan to Arsenal and Liverpool (according to various British sources), the Barcelona flop was also expected to make a comeback to Atlético, but his most recent declarations and his decision not to join Galatasaray seems to indicate that he will be staying at Barcelona for the remainder of the season.
