Nani joins Lazio on season loan with option to buy

Portuguese winger Nani has officially left Valencia to seal a season-long loan move to Lazio – the Italian club will have an option to buy for the duration of the loan.

After a successful medical yesterday in the evening, Nani is now officially a Lazio player. The Portuguese left-winger will be leaving Valencia for Rome after playing just over a year in Spain – the Serie A will be the fifth league he plays in after notable spells in Manchester United and Sporting CP. The player was one of the key members of the Portuguese squad that won the most recent European Championship, and was named amongst some of the best players of the tournament. These performances, along with a successful spell at Valencia, have earned him a move to the current Supercup holders, winner of Juventus earlier this month.

The move became official with the Lazio website announcing his arrival following a successful medical, as well as a morning tweet showing the Portuguese international (112 caps, 24 goals) posing with a Lazio scarf, captioned with the words Luis Nani is here!, hinting at a move for the former Red Devil. Nani, 30, will be joining Rome on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy estimated at £13.8m by the Italian press, which could make the move permanent if the player were to put on strong performances during the season, as well as in the Europa League. Nani was left out of the most recent Portuguese squad for the matches against the Faroe Islands and Hungary.
