Chelsea could sign Arsenal star despite Liverpool interest

According to the Daily Cannon, Liverpool could battle it out with Chelsea for the Arsenal star, and are ready to offer him a spot in Liverpool’s midfield in order to convince the player join them over Chelsea.

Following a long period of negotiation aimed at renewing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract, with the most recent offer being estimated at a salary of £180,000 per week, Arsenal may have just given up on keeping their young winger, who appeared in 29 games last season in the Premier League. With interest from Chelsea having built up in the past weeks and now with the player being closer than ever to the Blues, ‘The Ox’ is expected to leave Arsenal in the next following days. With the transfer deadline approaching, Chelsea has been rumored to show interest in the English international, but could be beaten by Liverpool in the race for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s signing.

Oxlade-Chamberlain had recently stated his interest in playing in a central midfield position in addition to assisting in the playmaking and chance creation of a potential new team. Liverpool would be ready to offer him this position if he were to sign with them over Chelsea, though Oxlade’s performances have not always been the best at this position. Arsenal’s will not to bench Xhaka or Ramsey for Oxlade-Chamberlain is understandable, though they are now faced with the challenge of keeping a player that does not want to play for them unless certain conditions are met. With the transfer deadline day approaching and getting dangerously closer by the minute, Chelsea and Liverpool must make a move now before time runs out.
