Although the rumors linking the Brazilian international to Barcelona have been more quiet in the past weeks, Barcelona seems to be getting closer to a deal with Guangzhou Evergrande regarding the transfer of their star midfielder Paulinho.

This year just like many years before, Barcelona have been very active in the transfer market (even more following the record-breaking departure of Neymar to PSG). Rumors linked various midfielders to the squad; Marco Verratti, Jean Michaël Seri, Paulinho being some of them.

Now more than ever, it seems as though Barça could finally officialize a major signing for the first time this summer, as an agreement between the Spanish club and the player seems to have already been decided.

The Mirror reports that Barça should be confirming the arrival of former Tottenham flop Paulinho in the next couple of hours, most likely by the end of the weekend – for an estimated amount sale of £36m.

Paulinho was signed on a 4-year deal by his former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2015, following a disappointing Premier League campaign for Tottenham. He went on to record 63 league appearances for the Chinese side, scoring 17 goals (seven of which were in the most recent campaign).

This signing would make Paulinho the fourth signing of Barça’s summer, following the return of Deulofeu from Everton, and the arrivals of Portugal’s Nélson Semedo and Brazilian youngster Marlon Santos, respectively from Benfica and Fluminense.
